Is it safe for the baby to be photographed at such young age?
Absolutely! But it is very important to find a professional photographer who’s been trained in newborn safety and posing, knows good soothing techniques and uses all necessary precautions during the session. It isn’t just about taking good photos, but most importantly – knowing newborn baby’s physiological capabilities and paying close attention to his/her needs 100% of the time. [Parents, please make sure that everyone who handles your newborn baby has all vaccines up to date, including the Whooping Cough vaccine].
What is the best age to photograph a newborn baby?
Newborn sessions are typically done when the baby is 5-12 days new, because after 10-12 days it’s much harder to achieve those sweet sleepy newborn poses. It doesn’t mean that your baby can’t be photographed a bit later, but the first two weeks would be an ideal timing for this type of session.
Where does the session take place?
Every newborn session conveniently takes place in the comfort of your home. Maternity and baby sessions could be done in your home or outdoors. Family sessions are outdoors only.
How far in advance should I book?
It is never too early to book your newborn session! Most people book at least 2-3 months in advance. I will try to accommodate last minute bookings, however sessions that were booked in advance will be guaranteed a priority spot in my calendar. There is only a limited number of sessions booked per month in order to accommodate parents regardless of the actual arrival date (doesn’t matter if your baby decides to come earlier or later , once you book – your spot will be there).
My baby is already here! Can I still do a newborn session?
Of course you can! However, it might be slightly different from a typical newborn session (depending on how old exactly your baby is). Contact me for more information and availability.
Do you have props?
I have a slight obsession with cute newborn outfits and props, so yes – I have LOTS of them! They are all beautiful and custom made using the best and softest fabrics and materials by some very talented people in the industry, so there is no need for you to buy anything for the session. Since every session is customized to your needs and style, we will discuss the colors, textures and props you would like to be used for your baby’s session before it takes place.
How long does a newborn session last?
Sessions usually last about 3-4 hours allowing enough time for setup, feeding, changing and comforting when needed. The day of the session you will just sit back and relax while I take care of everything else.
When am I going to be able to see my images?
Your private online gallery will be available to you within 3 weeks from the day of the session. Products and packages may take up to 2-3 weeks to process (depending on the product). Note: Original/Raw files will NOT be available for viewing or purchasing.
